We have an 8 berth Willerby Granada on the Blue Dolphin Site and would like to advertise it on you website.
We bought the caravan in April last year and sub let it to Haven for most of the season, we ended up owing them money after their comissions etc and felt like selling up until we saw your website.
You just wouldn't believe the trouble we have had with the after sales! The only thing that worries us is that the guy who sold us the caravan has just been promoted (scary). We did try to sell it back to them after 3 months of purchase, from £17,000 to £7,000 it is bazaar. The only good thing has been owners breakfast on a Sunday morning where you don't have to wash up.
I dont know if you can use this or not Dave, but i thought i would send you a copy anyway.
We know all firms have to make money, but a drop like that is more than just depreciation over 3 months and people wanting to buy caravans are not told this by the sales staff.
Strangely enough I have had comments from a couple of my guests this year who have commented about the general state of the park (pool, toilets, bars etc) - it is interesting that other paying guests are passing back the same comments to you too.
I have to say that in the 3 years I've had a 'van on BD that I haven't noticed any difference year on year on the facilities so I do begin to wonder where our 'money' goes. The Alpine is still a mess - if it was local pub, the regulars wouldn't put up with it. I don't know what to suggest - -filling in the Owners quesitonnaire each year doesn't seem to do much. An owners club? Great if we can get one going but then the age old question arises of who runs it, who can commit time and resource etc.
Is it the same on other sites? I recall from my holidays at other BL sites before I bought a 'van, that some of them were a bit 'rough' round the edges
In the time We have been at BD we have seen :-
1 the old outdoor pool totally ripped out and rebuilt.
2 the old indoor pool (that had been closed for some 4 or 5 years demolished and the sports drome built in its place.
3. Refurbishment of The Starlight Showbar during which one of the bars was removed completely and the was made smaller and smellier (the smell was
maybe ain idea to stop people standing at the bar all night getting in the way of people waiting to get served)
4. The smugglers bar refurbished and all its former character destroyed.
5. The Tartan Bar closed and made first into a games room with the mini bowling, and then into a gymnasium (which seems to get used more by locals
than the owners and holiday makers put together).
6. the alteration of the club rooms corridor, making access to the pools from the clubs. in which the Starlight was made smaller so an additional
amusement arcade could be put in the club entrance.
7. the demolition of the old chalets and subsequent landscaping into what is now Cedar Court (why this took nearly 18 months, leaving the centre of the
park looking like Bazra is beyond me)
8. the boating /fishing lake this was done by accident really the lake was put there as a flood prevention system for Rose View after all other
prevention methods failed. ( its a pity they cant do the same on Maple Rise before it turns completely into our own version of Manby Mud Park and all the
caravans sink without trace.
any way I thought Improvements where supposed to be an improvement for the owners and the holidaymakers (as without these they would be out of
business), but I suppose 4 out of the 8 is not bad for BL even if the last one was by accident.
Sorry I seen to be bitching at BL again it seem that’s all I can do at the moment. never mind they might give me something the really praise them for this
season (but I sha`nt be holding my breath though).
