Caister-on-Sea
Hi Dave,
Nice to see web site with a bit of byte for the caravan owners.
As with your other readers I also have a tale to tell, this time about the Haven Caravan Park at Caister-on-Sea.
We are two pensioners who bought our caravan at Caister 18 months ago. The cost was £12000 for the van, but with all the add-ons the total price was £15444, This was paid for with our savings.
Because of my wife's ill health we decided to sell, as per our agreement, back to Bourne Leisure. We conveyed our request to the Owners Exclusive Office were the manager told us he would look at the van and send us a price. This duly arrived two days later, the buy-back price offer was for £3975, a depreciation of 67% in 18 months. His excuse for the low price was that there was a glut of used vans on the park and he even suggested that we sell privately if we wanted more money. This is in spite of receiving numerous letters stating that our van was wanted for stock on newly purchased parks.
Has any body else had this experience and what has happened?
Yours-
Hi Dave,
Second chapter in the Caister caravan sale saga.
I have been forced to sell to a trade buyer, who did at least offer more than Bourne Leisure, Owners Exclusive. I find it rather peculiar that I had a telephone call from a dealer only two days after my visit to the owners office. On meeting the gentleman we got to talking and the question was asked were the van was going, he replied that it was going to France were he had several other vans and that my van was "a good bye" to add to his fleet.
Seeing that Bourne Leisure are now increasing their operation in France, this has made me wonder. Is this another phase in the sale scam. Any thoughts?
