Hello Dave
My two Son's and I spend the half term break at Rockley and thought you might like our comments.......
We spent the week at Rockley as a family of three, (Myself, two sons aged just over eight and seven) whilst leaving the youngest and my wife at home, (their idea!!)
Since June when we were there last little seems to have changed generally within the park but.................!
What's happened to the temperature of the indoor pool?? It was lovely in the summer but very chilly this time round.
Whose idea was it to 'run down' the food (especially the frozen items) in the shop to he point where you could count the items in there on on hand, inform customers that it was not being replaced because the shop was being moved at the end of the season only then replenish them two days later after we had all given up and gone to Tescos?!
Also, the gift shop had been shut and half dismantled on the Saturday we arrived though for why I am not sure............nothing was done in there all through the week!
Service in the Oasis Bar was worse than useless with Sarah, the only visible member of bar staff clearly uninterested in anything other than chatting to a young lad who was chain smoking at the bar. Enough said.
Service in the Showbar was better in the sense that the staff in there communicated in words rather than grunts and were very efficient though as before there just weren't enough of them.
There was one incident which left me with a strangely good feeling though!
On Wednesday evening my eight year old was walking ahead of us as we exited the Funworks via the bowling green end. As he walked through the door he was very, very nearly mown down by a local tearaway on a stolen moped and was very shaken up by it. Although admittedly I initially 'blew a fuse' at the security having suffered problems the last time we were there, they were absolutely superb and couldn't do enough to help and look after us. Even the following day the Head of Security personally came round to our caravan and bought the two lads a Bradley Bear toy each and thanks to the work of the security team the stolen moped was recovered by them and the driver identified and I understand subsequently arrested so a major plus point for them. Bourne Leisure have a letter praising these individuals in the post.
Aside of this, park cleanliness was ok apart from the tables in the Oasis that were ALWAYS full of dirty plates and glasses and never wiped during the daytime, the pool areas were nice and clean and the loos were pretty good.
The funstars were good again, Steve in particular was superb and must surely go onto greater things though it's a shame Amy seemed to resent every minute she had to be cheerful and therefore wasn't.............................
Kelly was good and 'Magic' Lisa was bubbly and great fun as always.
Entertainment other than the funstars was rather lack lustre with the huge exception of NOEL BRODIE who uniquely managed to combine a brilliant entertainment programme that made me (33) and my eldest son (8) laugh in unison. This was undoubtedly the finest piece of entertainment of it's kind I have ever seen and I'm glad to say I told him so after he came off stage!
In conclusion..............
Sort the Bar Management out. It's not rocket science to get more people serving and have clean tables that people want to sit at.
If you can't employ decent bar staff then maybe you aren't paying enough???!!!!
The take-away should be taken away permanently and provide decent food for what is basically a captive market.
