I am writing following my family's stay at your holiday park last week (ending Sat 04.09.2004). Having stayed at various holiday parks around the country before all members of my family were shocked at the facilities and prices at Rockley Park.
Prior to booking the holiday the website boasted how family friendly the park is and how accommodating the staff. We did not find either to be the case.
We paid £26 per adult and £13 per child for entertainment passes which covered all activities except diving which would be an additional charge. In fact it only allows you to visit an over priced shop, arcade, bar and a swim in the pool. Any other activities we had to pay for such as bowls, tennis etc which is disgusting. The entertainment in the show bar was beyond terrible and the bar is not big enough to accommodate the amount of people staying at the park. The food in the Oasis bar was substandard (large amounts of egg shell in a childs breakfast and coffee which was hot water and milk) and the service was inadequate and completely unaccomodating for family use. The opening times of the facilities on site were also not conducive to family use. The bar to have breakfast doesn't open until 9am. You cannot order anything for lunch before 12am. You cannot order food after 8pm and on Saturday 4th September you could not order food after 6pm as there was a private function. (Basically more money for the holiday park at the expensive of the customers staying there). Both pools close at 6pm and cannot be used before 10am. The launderette closes at 8pm. When you have children you try to do things like washing or have a quiet swim etc once they are in bed. How can you do that when the facilities close so early and open so late. This is not family friendly.
Our general impression of the park was poor and we would not recommend it to our wide circle of family and friends for their family holiday. To total up what we have had to pay to stay for 1 week onsite at Rockley Park we could have had a much higher standard 2 week holiday abroad. No wonder the British Tourist Industry struggles if this is the standard offered.
