Hi!
Just found this web site
We are new owners of a caravan at Thorpe Park since early this year. We Let it out to help towards the costs and high site fees which we did not mind because They say HASSLE FREE so relax and they do it for you,
But we have had more hassle than we can handle and are too worried to relax The cost and the amount of gas bottles used ,5already and the caravan only occupied no more than 4months.
The Area and the site and some of the staff we have no complaints but for The quality of the cleaning not up to standard ,repairs not being done properly
We have a brand new caravan and have not had a whole week where WE can RELAX. The arrogance and incompetence of some of the staff .We do not want to spend OUR Breaks complaining and worrying about how it is cared for while on Lets.
We have written to Head Office but have had no reply or satisfactory response We feel these problems are rife throughout the group and will be interested to see the program Inside Out on 17th Oct and hope they will shed light on it all for all our sakes.
As for wanting to spend a few years at Thorpe Park we now feel we never want to go back to Haven Holidays
There is so much more we can say about Thorpe Park which isn't very nice but we want to get back to our lives and family
Very Unhappy Van Owners
Good Luck to us All
Hi Dave,
Just a word of encouragement for the author of ‘A tale of Woe’ – and I hope I’m not teaching Granny to suck eggs, but why not sell it yourself? I’ve sold three caravans privately at Devon Cliffs over the past couple of years –all of them for a better price than that offered by B.L. Many people seem to think that B.L. are the only people who can buy your van. They are not. You are however probably contract bound to give them ‘First Refusal’ . But if you don’t like their offer – you certainly do not have to take it. Flog it yourself mate!
Best of luck,
Roj,
P.S. No objection if you want to contact me direct – Dave has my details.
LITTLESEA
We found a static caravan advertised for sale at Littlesea Holiday Park in a local Estate Agents window.
We made enquiries and arranged to meet the Estate Agent the next day at the park. The owner of the caravan had brought the caravan new from Haven in 2006. He had very little use from it and sadly passed away hence why his Solicitors had asked an Estate Agent to handle the sale of his estate which included the caravan.
Before putting in an offer we spoke to a sales person at Haven. He explained that site fees varied according to location on the park. He wrote down and itemized all the expenses we would be paying to stay in the Bayview area where the caravan was sited.
We put in an offer which was accepted. The Estate Agents explained we now had to deal directly with Haven. We contacted them and were told we could not leave the caravan on a “prime” area like Baywatch unless we purchased a caravan from them. We passed on this information to the Estate Agent who was horrified. He then notified the Solicitors who phoned the site and spoke to the manager. He explained that printed in the small print owners of caravans do not own the pitch they are on. We were advised to negotiate directly with Haven.
I phoned and spoke to Rob, the manager was not in that day, who did the Solicitor talk to an hour earlier?
Here are the details:-
If we purchase the caravan privately we cannot leave it on the pitch in the area we want.
The site fees quoted in writing by their sales office, have increased by three hundred pounds in one week.
If we purchase the caravan they will have to move it from Bayview to a less prime location. Cost to move it five hundred and fifty pounds.
If we purchase a caravan from Haven we would be able to keep in on Bayview providing we buy an expensive caravan.
Would 18 thousand pounds be expensive enough? Answer from Rob, NO.
If we purchase a caravan this year the price would include next season’s site fees. Confirmed by the sales team.
If we delay until next year the following year site fees would be far higher. Confirmed by the sales team.
Improvements this winter will total 2 million pounds. Confirmed by the sales team.
This cost will be passed on to incoming owners next year. Confirmed by the sales team.
Customer service and satisfaction in not available at Haven.
