HI dave

thanks for your continued interest in our plight
we were offered £18,000 for the van by Rockley Park and with great reluctance
we accepted it. I am very upset at the amount of hard earned cash we lost in
one year and feel very bitter about the whole sorry saga. I would NEVER advise anyone to buy a holiday home at Rockley Park . We still read your excellent web
page keep up the good work.

Regards

Hello,I would be interested to know if you have any information regarding decking and verandahs. We are called ???????????? Ltd we are the south west dealer for ???????? Ltd in Skegness. We recently became approved installers for B L. but we are finding it impossible to get anyone to acknowledge that we exist.

While I appreciate that a lot of the general managers are reluctant to change installers because of " better the devil you know" this doesn't help other companies who have spent a lot of time and effort setting up business only to find that they cant get into the closed shop. Are other companies making sure that no new firms are able to get a look in so they are keeping the manager happy!

As you are aware several firms out there are producing awful work for extortionate money. The problem with this is that we are all supposed to be playing from a level playing field, and I am aware that one installer at a park in the south west has been forced to increase his prices in line with the other installers.

Then it became apparent that this installer is closely linked with the general manager, either close friend or family, so it was quite easy for him to pick up most of the available decks on site. Hardly fair is it?

Also the office of fair trading are aware of the situation and they are of the opinion that BL , although not doing anything illegal are restricting their customers from choosing the accessories that they want.

I would appreciate any information that you could provide me with or point me in the right direction.

Many thanks.

Good evening

We have just watched your interview with the BBC this evening (very brief as it was) and have come to one conlcusion - that is that you and your cohorts have obviously not been intelligent enough to understand the documentation when buying a holiday caravan.

Firstly, did you and others want the caravan for your sole use, or did you want it to let out to holiday makers. If for your sole use, it then depends on whether you want to use the facilities of the caravan park or just the Owners Exclusive, which most people buying for their sole use would. If purchased for letting out to holiday makers, then you have to accept the fact that not all people respect your property as you would. You should also ALWAYS read any documentation before signing - if you don't - you only have youselves to blame.

Secondly, when you buy a new car, do you expect to sell it later on for the same price? No, you don't. Anything bought brand new and sold later, even if only a few weeks, months or a year, is not worth the same as when you bought it. You have to accept the fact that depreciation applies to EVERYTHING and that from a brand new purchase to a sale within that time you would lose approximately 30%.

Just to let you know, we bought a caravan at Rockley Park, fully understanding the downsides and advantages of this ownership. After only 2 months we decided to upgrade to a superior caravan in a superior position and accepted the fact that we would lose money as you do on any second-hand item. We understand that Park Owners are in the business of making a living as is any business and, at the end of the day, if you are not able to grasp the small print, then should you really have gone into it in the first place.

We are VERY HAPPY with our dealings with Bourne Leisure and the way we have been dealt with, both with the purchase of our first van, resale a couple of months later, and then purchase of our second van.

We would be very interested to see this published on your site, as it seems you publish many negative comments and only one positive.

Regards

WEBMASTERS NOTE! Here is reply I sent to sender.

Hi ,

Thanks for your e-mail.

I can assure you it will be published as I do with all e-mails I receive. The negativity is just a reflection on the way some owners are dealt with by B.L.

I accept, as I imagine most people do, that everything depreciates. The 30% mark would in my mind be acceptable but some owners are losing up to 80% in a short space of time. Prices given if you are upgrading are nowhere near the low value you would get if you wished to sell up.

On the subject of depreciation camper vans hold their value very well and look at all the moving parts and hard wear that they get.The static caravan industry have created a self fulfilling prophecy that a lot of people fall for.

I am am pleased that you are happy with your van at Rockley and wish that you remain so for your time there.

Dave
