ABOUT US
This web site was set up in 1999 to assist the owners with the many problems being encountered at that time and counteract the lies and excuses spewing forth from the owners help desk.
The Owners Association at that time was struggling with membership and all the problems were contained within the perimeter fence.
I thought the only way to get problems sorted was to have a common point where owners could compare notes and also promote the Owners Association.
The outcome was, that once established, the web site became a major recruiting source for the Association and although the powers that be at Bourne Leisure tried to ignore the web site initially they had no choice but to take heed and eventually I was having regular meetings with the General Manager to discuss points raised on the site. This was apart from the regular meetings that were now established between the park management and the Owners Association.
The presence of the web site also resulted in me having any issues I had with the park resolved swiftly.
One major dispute being when they told me I could only have a veranda that they supplied. On this occasion I contacted the Managing Directors of every veranda dealer in the country and subsequently got a very good deal to do a test case,(I got a £7,000 veranda for £2,000). After many discussions and threats to and from Bourne Leisure head office they gave in and sanctioned my veranda which was erected and I was well pleased with it. It also showed up what poor quality units they were supplying at an extortionate cost to the owners.
In 2005 we decided to sell up and approached the General Manager for a price and he made us an exceptionally substantial offer. This made us realise that we could probably stretch them a bit further and negotiated hard until we got a final figure of £34,000 for a 5 year old caravan, which incidentally was the about the price we purchased it.
If anyone at Bourne Leisure tells you the web is ineffective this is the proof that they wanted it out the way and they thought it would go away when I sold up.
As it turned out the web site became so popular that I now run it to keep up the pressure and try to help other owners or potential owners by informing them of the pitfalls they may encounter.
Caravan life should be superb and could be if it was not for the greed of some park owners.
In fact if they got their act together this web site would be a major asset to them.
